In the late summer and early fall of 2004 the CRA began directing its' attention to the residential areas west of the FEC railway in an effort to identify ways in which the Agency could assist these areas to improve and revitalize. In November 2004, the CRA commissioned a study of these areas that included assembling information on demographics, infrastructure availability, regulatory requirements for new development, possible project partnerships, and formulation of a strategy for beginning to facilitate improvements. This study resulted in a range of recommendations including working with the residents on area clean-up efforts; improvements to sidewalks, water and sewer, storm drainage, street lighting; creation of an affordable housing task force to address the rising home costs relative to area incomes, and other related items.
Neighborhood Enhancement Team (NET)
The Neighborhood Enhancement Team (NET) is the CRA's way of directly reaching out to the community. The NET is made of residents living in the western neighborhoods of Lake Worth. Their purpose is to help guide the CRA in making capital improvements and creating new programs in their neighborhood. NET meetings are held throughout the year and all Lake Worth residents are invited to attend. For more information regarding the NET, please contact the CRA office.
